Richmond Choral Society is proud to offer accessible educational programming to singers throughout the year. Here is a look back at some of our favorites.
Spring Forward! Body Mapping for Singers Spring 2026
This free workshop, presented on March 28, 2026, provided a framework for integrated movement to improve music-making, develop body awareness, and release muscle tension. This allows for expression of musical ideas through efficient, grateful, and coordinated movement.
What is body mapping?
It is retraining the brain’s understanding of the body, its maps, and how they work. By providing anatomical information, strategies, and techniques to identify muscle tension and develop body awareness, performers will be able to recognize and release muscle tension, allowing them to move beyond limitation and pain, and to fully express musical ideas through efficient, graceful, and coordinated movement.
This program is supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council
